Dispatched by Luz erne County 911 to a reported structure fire at 131 Pine St.. at 14:09 hrs. Chief 3 Eng. 3 Eng. 2 Ladder 1 Medic 11 responded. During response a portable from Tech Transport Chief had reported the fire to be on Vine St.. with a V and it was in deed a working fire. Radio transmissions to the county were also heard that there was an occupant that was in need of treatment from burns and smoke inhalation. All units redirected to Vine St. Chief 3 arrived and found a three story wood frame house that was attached to two single homes on the B & D sides. There was heavy black smoke coming from the second floor windows. As crews assembled the windows failed and flames were shooting from the windows starting to ignite the neighboring homes roof. Chief 3 used a wagon pipe to knock the fire down so interior crews could make a hit on the fire. A 1 3/4 hand line was stretched to the fire floor and the fire was extinguished. Crews were sent into and two additional 1 ¾ hand lines were placed into service in the 129 and the 133 exposures. Crews checked with thermal cameras and found no fire. A 4 inch supply line was established by Eng. 3 to the fire hydrant at Vine and Walnut St.

There were two people from the fire scene treated and transported by Medic 11 one was from the fire with burns smoke inhalation and the other was a spectator. The fire victim was air lifted to Lehigh Valley Burn unit.

Second to suppression and overhaul the Hazleton fire department with the PA State Fire Marshal investigated the origin and cause. At this time the fire is listed as accidental.

Units on the Box C-1, 2, 3(command) Eng. 2, Eng. 3, Ladder 1, and Medic 11 ALS & Rehab

Eng. 4, Tower 1, were staffed and in reserve for this call.
