Dispatched by Luzerne County Communications Center to 333 Luzerne St on a reported possible structure fire. L-1,E-3, E-5, C-1, APTS responded. Upon location found a single family ranch style home, Owner met crews at the front garage door stated that his microwave was on fire, and that all occupants where out of the home. Found moderate smoke condition in the garage area of the home.
C-1 had working fire tones hit which brought C-2,& C-3 to the scene. Crews entered in full Turnout Gear and SCBA and found fire was in the microwave oven. Used a dry chemical extinguisher and controlled fire to the unit itself. Checked for extension in the ceiling area above the range with TIC and found to be negative. Controlled utilities to the unit and started Positive pressure ventilation and Removed the unit from the residence. No Injuries to civilians or firefighters on scene

Dispatched by Luzerne County Communications Center to 632 N. McKinley Street on a reported structure fire. L-1, E-2, E-5, C-1, APTS responded. Upon location found a 2 1/2 story, 7 unit apartment complex, moderate smoke condition in the basement of the structure. Advise county to run a set of working fire tones, C-2, C-3 responded. Upon further investigation found fire to be located in a first floor apartment in the kitchen area near a radiator. Fire was extinguished on fire department arrival.
The fire was contained to corner of the kitchen area near a window. The window had failed , Checked for extension in both the kitchen area and the 2nd floor and found to be negative with TIC. Natural ventilation cleared the structure of the smoke. All occupants where evacuated upon fire department arrival. At this time fire is ruled as a undetermined. State Police Fire Marshal will respond in the AM to investigate.
