Group 4 gets a stove fire and a rescue of an occupant at 108 N Bennett Ct.

October 30, 2010 by Luzerne County 911 at 23:54 hrs. The Hazleton City Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 108 N Bennett Ct. Engines 2 & 3 and Ladder 1 responded with Medic 11. Eng. 3 and Chief 3 arrived and found a frantic occupant in the alley telling them were the fire was. East End firefighter Gene Culp entered the building and stated it smelled like burnt food. He then felt the door and opened it to the door chain. He saw a person lying on the couch and smoke to the floor. Chief 3 then forced the door open and the pair pulled the unresponsive man from the couch. The man was treated by Medic 11 and transported to HGH for smoke inhalation. Ladder 1 crew set up fans and entered the building to extinguish the pan fire burning on the stove and ventilated the structure. All units were released and returned to service after the choking smoke was cleared from the apartment at about 00:20 hrs. Chief 3 took the male occupant’s keys to him at HGH. Damage was contained to the stove top area and the apartment’s front door. The apartment was secured and the building owner was notified by phone.
